Congress candidate Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury turned emotional during his election campaign in the Berhampore Assembly constituency on Monday, as a massive turnout and visible public enthusiasm marked the outreach. Beginning his campaign from Khagra Shashthitala, Chowdhury’s roadshow drew large crowds, reflecting strong local engagement ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
As his convoy moved through Pound Road and nearby areas, residents came out in large numbers to greet him. In several localities, elderly women welcomed him with garlands and blessings, creating a deeply personal and emotional atmosphere. The campaign witnessed striking visuals, including people gathering along streets and balconies to catch a glimpse of the veteran leader.
One particularly moving moment occurred when an elderly woman with a fractured leg made her way to the balcony to see Chowdhury, highlighting the emotional connection between the candidate and the electorate. Youths and women also showered flower petals from rooftops as the campaign progressed through multiple neighborhoods before concluding at Telgadia.
Addressing the media, Chowdhury said the affection and trust of the people remain his biggest strength. He emphasized that his bond with the residents goes beyond politics, describing it as a family-like relationship. The campaign has intensified political activity in the region, with the strong public response indicating Congress’s continued grassroots presence in Berhampore.
